Privacy Policy
What data this site collects, why, and what rights you have over it.
Updated
The short version
This site is built to collect as little personal data as possible. Reading articles requires no account and no subscription, and sends no data to advertising networks. Analytics run only if you consent to them, and nothing is sent to Google before you do.
Data we process
Server logs. Our hosting infrastructure records standard technical logs (IP address, requested URL, user agent) for security and operational purposes. These logs are retained only as long as operationally necessary.
Analytics — only with your consent. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which articles are read and how visitors arrive. It is loaded only if you accept in the cookie banner: decline, or ignore it, and no request is ever made to Google. Once accepted, it sets cookies holding a randomly generated identifier and sends Google your approximate location, device and browser characteristics, and the pages you view. Google acts as our processor and states that it truncates IP addresses before storage. You can withdraw consent at any time from the Cookie Policy, where the full detail also lives.
Contact form. Messages sent through the contact form, including the email address you provide, are used only to respond to your inquiry — including editorial partnership and correction requests. Delivery is handled by our email provider; we do not add senders to any mailing list.
What we do not do
- No advertising trackers, no ad networks, no cross-site tracking pixels.
- No sale or sharing of personal data with third parties for marketing.
- No profiling of individual readers: analytics are read in aggregate, and are never linked to your contact-form message or to any other data we hold.
Fonts and embeds
Fonts are self-hosted: viewing this site does not send requests to third-party font services. The analytics script is the only third-party request a normal page makes. Where a page embeds external content, the embed provider’s own privacy policy applies to that content.
Affiliate links
Clicking an outbound affiliate link takes you to the merchant’s site, where the merchant’s privacy policy applies. Merchants may attribute your visit to this site for commission purposes.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data concerning you. To exercise them, use the contact page.
Changes
Material changes to this policy are reflected in the “Updated” date above.
